Serena Hanson, LMSW, is Wichita-born and raised! She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Family Counseling from Barclay College and a master’s degree in Social Work from Newman University. She has most recently served the community as a School Social Worker after serving for over two decades in child welfare, foster care, and adoption services, and as a college professor in social work education. She has a wealth of experience with children and adolescents of all ages, young adults, couples, and families of all shapes and sizes. Serena is an expert in providing trauma-informed and trauma-led interventions to clients from all backgrounds, with a specialization in helping people to heal generational trauma. Serena is passionate about equipping others to have a deeper understanding of their biology as it relates to mental health and wellness using psycho-education. She supports positive relationship engagement and works with clients to improve upon their already present skills in order to reach their goals. As a social worker, Serena believes her clients have the power to reach their goals, and she works to ensure the client’s voice is the most important voice in the therapeutic process. Over the years, she has enjoyed serving in various ministries at her church, especially while she and her husband were raising their four children. Serena is skilled at working with those who are seeking a spiritual or faith-based connection during their treatment process and with those who wish to avoid this perspective entirely.
